The story so far
Twenty-two years ago, two housemates took a day off work and wrote a simple Christmas song. It was recorded to tape on an old Yamaha four-track.
They played it to their other housemate.
She immediately dropped dead from a brain haemorrhage.
The tape mysteriously disappeared. To this day, conspiracy theorists have argued between themselves, each speculating possible places where it might be found. Was it with the FBI? The Mafia? Will Ferrell?
Young, reckless, and apparently immune to learning lessons, the pair relocated to Bristol and recorded the song for a second time. This version was uploaded to the social media platform MySpace.
Shortly afterwards, MySpace suffered a massive data loss during a “routine” server migration and was eventually shut down completely.
The song was lost again. Into the ether of the deepest darkest web.
Following various threats and mounting unease, the housemates went into hiding. One fled to an undisclosed country on the far side of the Severn Bridge. The other moved south, to a location with no windows and extremely limited phone coverage.
Years later, under pressure from the sole surviving original listener — and with Rob Reiner allegedly in talks to make a documentary — the two songwriters reunited in secret and recorded the song for a third time.
No one knows where they are now.
The Government have taken steps to control the situation with the online safety act, the banning of free speech and the cancellation of elections but we're still one step ahead.
The song is posted below. Listen, share, and download at your own risk.
